Affordable needs a clearly defined scope

Two plans with the same monthly price can deliver very different value. Before subscribing, ask the provider to answer questions about scope, control, and operating responsibility in writing. A vague answer today often becomes an unexpected cost later.

The 12-question checklist

  1. Does the monthly fee include hosting and SSL?
  2. Are automatic backups and error recovery included?
  3. Can I edit content, images, and service prices myself?
  4. Is the website tested on real mobile devices?
  5. Who owns the domain, and do I retain full control of it?
  6. Are there limits on pages, image storage, or traffic?
  7. Where is enquiry-form data delivered and stored?
  8. What data can I retrieve if I stop renting?
  9. What is the normal support response time?
  10. Are setup, content entry, or redesign charged separately?
  11. Is URL history kept when an article slug changes?
  12. Is the renewal price disclosed in advance?

How to use the checklist

Mark every question as “clear”, “ask again”, or “not provided”. Do not choose a service only because its first number is the lowest. Prefer a plan with a transparent total cost, accessible data, a domain that remains yours, and a support channel with an explicit responsibility.
